BIG EAST Track and Field Teams Get Set For Conference Championships - BIG EAST Conference AthleticsPublished by

combined 18 champions, 11 men and seven women, from the 2007 BIG EAST
Track and Field Championships will converge on Jumbo Elliot Track at
Villanova Stadium May 2-4 for the 2008 BIG EAST Track and Field
Championships. On the men’s side, Louisville
returns three individual champions from last year’s title-winning
squad. Junior Andre Black is the only multiple event winner returning.
He won the long jump (7.81m) and triple jump (16.01m) last year. He is
currently third on the BIG EAST performance list, eighth in the NCAA
Mid-East Region and 14th nationally in the long jump with a mark of
7.70m. He leads the conference triple jump, is third in the Mid-East
Region and 14th nationally with a mark of 15.86m. Louisville currently has six student-athletes ranked atop the men’s BIG EAST
performance list, the most of any school. Freshmen Edmund Yeboah leads
the 100 meters at 10.39 seconds while Michael Eaton has earned an NCAA
automatic qualification in the 10,000 meters with his time of 28:41.96.
Junior Rudon Bastian leads the conference with his NCAA
regional-qualifying mark of 7.87m in the long jump and classmate Steve
Hnat has notched a regional-qualifying toss of 17.85m in the shot put.
Freshman Josh Greenwald leads the discus with his toss of 55.59m,
