Rutgers Men’s Track And Field Competes at Larry Ellis Invitational - scarletknights.com

PRINCETON, N.J.  – The Rutgers men’s outdoor track and field team recorded 12 top-5 finishes, including four NCAA Regional qualifying marks at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday, April 19, at William Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University.

Senior Jahmone Duhaney (Boonton, N.J.) and junior Steve Swern (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) finished first and second, respectively in the 400-meter hurdles to lead Rutgers in the track events. The pair posted NCAA Regional qualifying times as Duhaney clocked 51.98, followed by Swern in 52.31.

Junior Kyle Grady (East Brunswick, N.J.) and sophomore Bruce Owens (Wenonah, N.J.) each posted NCAA qualifiers in their respective events as Grady took second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.18, while Owens placed second in 21.35 in the 200-meter. Owens also took third in the 100-meter dash in 10.59.

Sophomore Nii-Amon Robertson (Plainfield, N.J.) finished fourth in the 400-meter in 47.83, while Rutgers wrapped its other top performances on the track with a victory in the 4x400-meter relay and a second-place showing in the 4x100 relay. Owens, Duhaney, Swern and Robertson combined to win the 4x400 with a time of 3:14.57. Robertson and Owens again joined forces, this time in the 4x100 along with sophomores Zach Shands (Wyncote, Pa.) and Mike Demko (Hightstown, N.J.) to clock a time of 40.94 and take second place.
