What a fall

Whats up!? As I am in my room waiting for the warm water to return to the pipes so I can take a shower, I am reflecting back on the past three months and trying to take in what really just actually happened. As many of you who check this blog out or have read my page know, I was originally a sprinter throughout high school and college but I did have a great background in distance before that, running so from the time I was five. I finally have returned to my roots and am enjoying every minute of it. Today we basically put in the culminating workout after three intense weeks. I honestly can say that my focus is renewed and I can sense that my body has made the adjustments necessary in order to carry out the goals I have set for myself. Now I should mention that these goals will not be possible without much further hard work and pushing myself past my current shape as well as staying healthy but I know by buying into this Oregon system set forth by great minds like Frank Gagliano, Vin Lananna and Ross Krempley it ultimately is enabling me to have a legitimate shot of getting to run with the best that this country and world have to offer at 800m. I mainly wanted to take this entry to reflect on the now over 600 miles that I have run in the past three months, something I never thought I would do let alone type, but also to thank everyone out here who is encouraging and helping me to carry out my dreams. I think I owe so much to my teammates and coaches for their support and commitment to this program and equally important I would like to thank my family and friends for sticking by me and giving me tremendous support from 3000 miles away. It was an extremely difficult decision to come out here in the first place knowing I would be missing them terribly but knowing that I have their support behind me makes this process much easier and gives me a tremendous amount of pride, strength and focus. As many of you head home for a few weeks, or if you are home, I hope that you all are able to spend time with your family and reflect on how lucky you are. I can't tell you how incredibly lucky I am and look forward to my trip home. No matter what religion, creed or race everyone in this holiday season should feel loved and have the chance to be with the people who love them most, and I hope that place finds you as well! When I return you can be sure to see more things from "The Burns" and I from RSL including some of our most recent ideas of a walk around Eugene. It should be fun! I hope to see you all soon and have a great holiday!
