The 27th running of the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships brings together the top 40 girls and top 40 boys from the South, Northeast, Midwest, and West regions for a showdown on a hilly, and possibly wet, Balboa Park course that has hosted the cream of American distance runners through the years. The girls race begins at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Morley Field in Balboa Park. The boys race follows at 10:00 a.m.

The boys field features a match-up of two 2006 Foot Locker finalists – Donn Cabral, the Northeast champion from Glastonbury, CT, and Colby Lowe, a 4:09 1600-meter runner out of Southlake, TX, and the South Region champion.

Among the girls, Kroeger, of Franklin, TN, has the fastest regional time, 16:56, a time she had to run to win to edge Florida’s Kayla Hale at the South Regional at McAlpine Park in Charlotte SC. Hale finished in the same time, followed by two other Florida runners who also broke 17 minutes - Emilie Amara and Brittany Koziara. The four were the only girls to break 17 minutes in the four regional championships this year.
