Rutgers Men’s Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season in MiamiPublished by
MIAMI, Fla. – Several members of the Rutgers men's track and field team began their 2008 outdoor campaigns at the Hurricane Invite on the campus of the University of Miami on Sunday, March 22. The non scoring meet also included a number of professional and unattached athletes. The Scarlet Knights posted eight top-5 performances at the meet, including an event victory. On the track, senior Jahmone Duhaney (Boonton, N.J.) led RU with a winning time in the 400-meter hurdles. Duhaney clocked a time of 52.69 to earn the win, followed by teammate junior Steve Swern (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) who ran 53.13 to place second. Duhaney and Swern also competed on Rutgers' second-place 4x400-meter relay team. The pair, along with sophomores Bruce Owens (Wenonah, N.J.) and Nii-Amon Robertson (Plainfield, N.J.) finished first among all collegiate with a time of 3:15.13.
