When famed track coach Trevor Graham goes on trial May 19 for allegedly making false statements to federal investigators, the BALCO doping scandal will have come full circle. Evidence presented by both the defense and the prosecution is expected to link a dozen track and field athletes to performance-enhancing drugs, including two-time Olympic gold medalist Maurice Greene, who has never tested positive for drugs. Victor Conte, the ringleader of the BALCO affair, told the Daily News yesterday that the emergence of Greene's name brought the BALCO case back to its roots.
