Washington, D.C. - Junior Andrew Bumbalough (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) was one of a handful of event winners at the 2008 Giegengack Invitational, hosted by Yale University at the Coxe Cage in New Haven, Conn. but his 3:58.46 is an automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Championship. Among the remaining top performances, sophomore Renee Tomlin and senior Maggie Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) each posted provisional qualifying times for the NCAA Championship with first and third-place performances in the 800m, respectively. The two-day event included three NCAA qualifying times (one automatic, two provisional), 28 total BIG EAST qualifying times (17 men, 11 women), 16 IC4A qualifying times for the men and nine ECAC qualifying times on the women's side.

Bumbalough's performance in the men's mile set the standard and senior Rasheed Thompson (Herndon, Va./Herndon) continued to highlight the event with a BE and IC4A qualifying time of 4:08.73 to place fifth in the event. Also qualifying for the BE and IC4A Championships was junior Terrell Gissendanner (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech) whose 14.07 mark in the triple jump put him in fifth place. In his second fifth-place performance of the invitational, Gissendanner timed in at 8.23 in the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles and placed eighth overall in the final round. In the same event, freshman Chris Kinney (Stockbridge, Ga./Stockbridge) finished fourth in the preliminary round with a time of 8.18 and shaved .15 off for a time of 8.02 in the final round, enough for a second-place showing, and just one-hundredth of a second behind the leader - both met BE and IC4A qualifying standards.
