December 06, 2007 12:00am CATHY Freeman was working in the troubled Aboriginal community of Palm Island in Far North Queensland, encouraging children to go to school, when serial big-mouth Anthony Mundine called her a "sellout" who couldn't be an authentic indigenous leader. In the small community where her mother Cecelia grew up, the Sydney Olympic 400m champion presented children between the age of six and 16 with awards - part of a program she initiated that has boosted school attendance by a stunning 30 per cent. As The Daily Telegraph tracked down Australia's national treasure, sporting greats unloaded on Mundine for his criticism of Freeman and his denouncing of women as community leaders. It was a rambling speech that - not unexpectedly - coincided with the promotion of yet another of his fights.
