He was the world-class track coach who blew the whistle on BALCO,
setting off an international scandal in 2003 when he provided
authorities with a syringe containing the undetectable steroid known as
"the clear." But over the years, some of the greatest athletes he coached at his
track club in North Carolina - including Olympic superstar Marion Jones
and 100-meter sprint champions Tim Montgomery and Justin Gatlin - were
implicated in the use of banned drugs. And now coach Trevor Graham is going on trial in U.S. District Court
in San Francisco three months before the start of his sport's marquee
event - the Olympics in Beijing. Graham is accused of lying to federal agents about his own role in
distributing banned drugs to elite athletes. In documents filed Friday,
the government said seven athletes he has coached - including four who
have won Olympic gold medals - are set to testify that Graham helped
them get human growth hormone, the blood-doping product EPO and other
